Bhagyashree Birla is a PhD Student in the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (BCB) Program at Iowa State University. Bhagyashree has a Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology and a Master’s Degree in Bioinformatics from the University of Pune, India.
Her research interests include RNA interference and applying a combination of experimental and computational techniques in synthetic biology. She has previously worked on a biotechnology project that involved testing of plant secondary metabolites on the regrowth of axons of nerve cells and a project on the in silico identification of small molecule inhibitors to the DNA repair enzyme apurinic endonuclease.
Apart from having a profound interest in science, she enjoys reading, creative writing, swimming and travelling.
